A law enforcement investigation into an incident that took place on Dec. 15 last year found that Cortlandt resident Alexander Welch-Vanzile, 22, allegedly was in possession of an improvised weapon made from a sharpened piece of metal while he was incarcerated at the facility.

Welch-Vanzile was arrested and charged with a felony count of first-degree promoting prison contraband. Following arraignment in the Town of Fishkill Court, Welch-Vanzile was remanded back into the custody of the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision to resume his sentence.
